I'm currently trying to find a specific Chinese TV series that I watched as a teen, but can't for the life of me remember the title of! My memory may be a little spotty, but I think the plot went as such:
A fiction historical/period (?) series about two brides who met each other on their way to their separate arranged marriages. They befriend each other, but accidentally get into the wrong palanquin. One bride ends up going to some noble lord/emperor(?) who is sickly (although she was meant to marry a general), and the other bride ends up going to the general (though she was meant to marry the young lord). Despite the mix-up they decide to follow fate and not correct their mistakes.
The sickly lord isn't sickly at all, but is pretending to be so because of some corruption in the palace, and the bride he ends up with knows some kung-fu (as he does). He likes her, and trains her to act like a more noble lady (by reciting poetry/proverbs?) in order to fool the family.
Meanwhile, since the general's off at war, the other bride decides to go and find him, but disguises herself as a boy in order to do so. She ends up apprenticed to a doctor so she can be near her husband and help him, but the two (bride and general) do end up meeting eventually and fall in love.
