I have been wondering about this movie for 15 years. Please help.
Period piece. I think turn of the century, Movie is probably came out 1998-2004.
Young white woman (possibly still in teen years). Goes to live in a home with other young women, reminded me of a brothel or something seedy.
The woman who runs it makes all the young women gather around. A young man walks around and picks her as his new wife.
She is sent with him. She’s nervous. They ride on a horse all day. At night he suddenly stops the horse & throws her to the ground, she pleads for him to wait till they are in a bed. But he forcefully has sex with her. She talks to herself while he does this.
Then they arrive in a bleak area where he plans to build a house. They have to live in house tents while they work hard to build a house. He makes her work like a slave. She is often dirty and run ragged.
He often is aggressive & short tempered with her.
His younger, nicer brother arrives to help build the house. The brother watches how hard she works and how she is mistreated.
The brother of her husband and she eventually become involved. And she becomes pregnant with his baby. Her husband dies/killed.
The brother of her husband goes off and marries another woman.
He finds out she’s pregnant with his baby.
I think she marries someone older in the end and tells her lover she will keep it secret that the baby is not really her husbands.
I think the movie aired on showtime or Starz or Cinemax or something like that around 2002-2004.
