Title Help

I saw this peculiar film probably 20 or more years ago. It was in color, set in Victorian times or possibly earlier. I believe it was in England, but could possibly have been somewhere in western Europe and had subtitles. Much of it takes place in a wealthy family's conservatory, which is filled with butterfly (could possibly be moth) cocoons. There is a father, a beautiful daughter, and a grossly obese mother, who spends most of her time on a chaise lounge in the conservatory stuffing herself with candy. The mother seemed to me to be a metaphor for the concept of a queen bee being pampered and waited on. I believe there was also a love interest for the daughter. Towards the end of the movie, the butterflies/moths hatch and fill the conservatory.
I have searched the internet, but cannot come up with a title. I would love to be able to watch this one again.
