This b&w film was made in 1930s (I think) and set in the 10's, 20's or 30's. I've always thought of it as being set in a private boy's school in the southern states of the USA. I saw it for the only time when I was aged about 12 (53 now), and the only specific clue I recall about it was that the hero, who was often in trouble with his masters, was helped out by a cleverer boy who wagged either his right or left ear in Latin grammar class to indicate the correct answer. More than that I don't know, except perhaps to say that I've also maintained the impression that it had a very long running time - though that may have more to do with my age at the time. I've always wanted to see it again, so any suggestions ...... Thanks in anticipation.
