I think it was a BBC series in the 80’s, but not sure. An American woman goes to Japan and has an affair with a high up Japanese Lord or official. She gives birth to a baby boy. The boy is removed by the father and sent away. She searches for years, and remains in Japan searching. I think she opens a clothing shop. Many years later, she begs the father of her son to tell her where he is. He would be a young man by now. He finally gives in and she meets her son for the first time right before he is getting ready to fly a plane as a Kamakazxie pilot. This was one of the saddest stories I have ever watched, but so memorable. I wish I knew the title so I can find it again.
