Title Help

Hello, I'm trying to find the title of a movie I saw when I was a child: black and white, probably end of the 40's or 50' (not sure at all…). A couple wants to have a child and the woman becomes pregnant. Some "spirit" of a child (I don't remember what it was called, "angel" or maybe it had no name at all!…) who could choose to be born into this family watches them live for some time, along with some sort of an adult (qpirit or angel…) who guides him. He eventually appreciate the values of this couple and decides to become their baby. And then he goes in the baby's body right before being born. The End. That's all I can remember, but I would be really happy if somebody could help… Thank you!
