Title Help

Hello everyone, I would appreciate any help in finding the title of a film that I only saw the last few minutes of it! It captured my attention because of the dramatic scene of a mother, blonde and probably in her late 30s or early 40s, who was talking and holding her son, about 10-11 years old, and I think she was saying goodby to him. I remember that her husband or the son's father waited outside to let her see her son for the last time, then she leaves and walks down the street with crushing sadness on her face and the film ends. The woman was well dressed and so were her son and husband. It was an old black and white movie probably from the end of the 1940s or early 1950s, but I'm not sure. The music was sad too. The actress looked like Lana Turner but I'm not sure that it was her.
