I saw a PBS or BBC film about a writer who intended to compile his observations of people and relationships into a novel. He became increasingly destitute pursuing his writing career, but was seemingly unfazed, even at the prospect of eating canned cat food. He continued collected vignettes of people that he met and then died. His writings were published posthumously and became the book by the same title as the movie (I think). Very poignant message. Can you help with the title of the movie? Thanks!
