A movie that I saw in the early 90s, set in the 50s, color film. A young woman from a high-class immigrant (Spanish/Italian?) family has a love interest in a young (American?) man, clearly not someone that her father wishes she would marry. The father forbids their relationship and she is arranged to marry someone else. The young couple runs off exploring during the day and end up skinny dipping in a natural pool (maybe waterfall?). She gets sick and is sent to a long-term care facility. In the mean time, the young man finds another girls and starts a family. There is a scene where the girl finds the young man again, on his farm, and there is a toddler (presumably, his with his new wife).
