I watched a movie in 2008 probably made in late 80s or early 90s about
a very plain looking very rich young girl who lives w her father and
she is falling for a very handsome young man, despite the from her
father. after they court for a while, the young man asks her to marry
him. the father makes it clear to the boy he will inherit no money if
they marry, the boy splits. only to return many years later to
apologize to her, finding her living alone, never marries and no
children. the movie ends w her in a black dress playing the
piano....alone (throughout this movie it seems that the young man
is truly in love w her, only to find out near the end he was after her
money only) no one famous in this film but very well acted
