Title Help

I'm looking for the title of a movie I saw as a young man about 40 years ago that portrayed a family in rural America in the early 1900's living on a farm who struggled keeping the family together after the death of parents. The oldest son tried to keep the siblings together, but just couldn't with the endless struggles. He found homes for all of them and the last visual I remember of the movie was him pulling a sled in a snow fall after finding a home for his youngest sister with another farm family. I don't recall any of the actors names and believe this movie was made in the 1940s or 1950s. Can anyone remember such a film - it was so inspirational and quite the tear jerker...
