I watched this movie in the 90s I think. so it probably was made no earlier than the 80s. it was set in the US, 1700s or 1800s I think. there was a scene where the main character's cousin comes into town and arrives on a steamboat wearing a big hooped gown and carrying a parasol.I remember there was a scene where a young girl was wading through a swamp type area and stumbled across a group of native americans. I think she may have befriended them. I think this character was a tomboy. I cannot find the title or description anywhere. please help!
