I'm pretty sure you are talking about the "Falling for a Dancer" mini series. It is not Catherine Cookson but it is similar to her plots. Elizabeth, the main character, becomes pregnant with an actor's child, but is forced to marry a widower, who is a lot older than herself, by her father. Liam Cunningham plays Mossie, the relative of the widower, who falls in love the first time he sees Elizabeth when driving her to her new home and husband. In the end the widower dies and Elizabeth and Mossie marry. Hope this helps! :)
