I'm trying to find the title of a movie that takes place in a small rural village in Germany in the early 1900's. It's all in German.
The town experiences several acts of brutality towards two of the children. The baron and baroness's child is one of them and she ultimately leaves him. Many of the men are cruel. It's narrated by the school teacher.
The preacher has several children, the doctor has 2 or 3 I can't remember, the baron has the one and another man who has about 8 children (his wife passed). One violates his daughter another one ties his young boys hands to the bed when he sleeps so he can't masturbate.
Toward the end of the film a young nursemaid tells the teacher that she dreamed of someone torturing one of the boys and is afraid that it will come true...(it does)
The film ends with no clear understanding of who committed the crimes.
The teacher marries his girlfriend and WWI is about to start.
