Title Help

Hello,
I am trying to find the name of a foreign film (early 90s) with sub-titles. A European Officer (I'm thinking French) is in Viet-nam after the world and has a love affair with a young Vietnamese woman.
Obviously more to it than that, but the rest of the plot is a little hard to cover in a couple of sentences.
Hopefully you have enough to give it a shot.
