Forever Amber, the protagonist was never in an orphanage nor was there any priests visiting. Amber was born of rank but was given to a peasant family to raise and they never told her of her birthright. She did, however, sleep with the King at some point. She spent the major portion of her life trying to capture Bruce who refused to marry her thinking she had no good family name.
