The only thing I can actually remember is the man character, a girl, writing letters to a man with drawings of insects because he is a naturalist. At the very end, the last scene, she is out in a desert with her guy and wearing breeches. I really want to watch it again - I know it was good, it was just a while ago... it was either 19th or possibly early 20th century.
